Amaranthus tricolor 'Flaming Fountain'
Spectacular tricolour ornamental foliage with fiery shades and an elegant fountain-like habit

Amaranthus tricolor 'Flaming Fountain' is a spectacular fast-growing annual grown for its extraordinary ornamental foliage. Its long, narrow leaves create an elegant fountain-like display, developing a fiery combination of crimson, red, bronze, copper, yellow and green tones that become increasingly striking as the plants mature.

Growing to approximately 80–90 cm tall, Flaming Fountain makes a dramatic architectural accent in summer borders, large containers and mass plantings. Unlike amaranths grown primarily for their showy flower heads, this variety is all about its brilliantly coloured foliage, which also makes an unusual and eye-catching addition to floral arrangements.

Expert Growing Tips

● Sow the small seeds very shallowly and avoid burying them deeply, as light helps support successful germination.

● Wait until all risk of frost has passed before planting outdoors, as Amaranthus tricolor thrives in warm summer conditions.

● Grow in full sun to develop the richest and most intense foliage colours.

● Avoid excessive fertiliser, particularly high-nitrogen feeding, as overly rich conditions can reduce the intensity of the foliage colour.

● In exposed gardens, provide discreet support if necessary to keep the tall stems upright during windy weather.
