Sowing & Growing Tips

● Begonia seeds are extremely small, almost dust-like, so avoid handling them individually. Sow thinly on the surface of fine seed compost.

● Do not cover seeds with compost, as light is required for germination.

● Gently press seeds onto the surface or mix them with fine sand to help distribute them evenly.

● Cover the tray with a clear lid or plastic cover to maintain humidity until germination.

● Once seedlings have developed 2–3 pairs of true leaves, carefully prick them out and transplant into small pots. Lift seedlings gently with a small tool, keeping as much surrounding compost around the roots as possible. Hold seedlings by the leaves rather than the delicate stems to avoid damage.

● Harden off plants gradually before planting outdoors after the risk of frost has passed.
